Other Story 30
“Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have no money come, buy and eat.
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
But the humble will inherit the land
And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.
“You shall not murder.
“You shall appoint for yourself judges and officers in all your towns which the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
2 Chronicles 19:5-7
“You shall not commit adultery.
“When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out from his house,
‘You shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the Lord.
“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay to pay it, for it would be sin in you, and the Lord your God will surely require it of you. “However, if you refrain from vowing, it would not be sin in you. “You shall be careful to perform what goes out from your lips, just as you have voluntarily vowed to the Lord your God, what you have promised.
Thus says the Lord,
“Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.
Where then is a house you could build for Me?
And where is a place that I may rest?
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
“Thus you shall not show pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
‘You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.
“You shall never seek their peace or their prosperity all your days.
“Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.
“You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.
“I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Come, my people, enter into your rooms
And close your doors behind you;
Hide for a little while
How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
Do not weary yourself to gain wealth,
Cease from your consideration of it.
Who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth
And makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?’
“Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths,
And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight;
Surely every man at his best is a mere breath.
1 Kings 10:4-7
When the queen of Sheba perceived all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, the food of his table, the seating of his servants, the attendance of his waiters and their attire, his cupbearers, and his stairway by which he went up to the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her.
Then she said to the king, “It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. “Nevertheless I did not believe the reports, until I came and my eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. You exceed in wisdom and prosperity the report which I heard.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,
For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
